Lust Have It! June edition

The only reedeeming thing about Monday's is that we get mail again! I had a great mail day today, including the LHI June* edition. (I'm not sure whether we call it a box or a bag now!)

Let's see what was inside...

Judging by the info card, it looks like a pretty strong box. Maybe not as great as the May box (which I didn't post about in case you were wondering, I got a little bit too busy) but there are still some decent selections in here.

Teeez Trend Cosmetics Lipstick in 'Classy Caramel'
Chapstick Hydration Lock Dual Action

Teeez Trend Lipstick RRP $32
How crazy is the packaging? It looks like there is a party on the lipstick case. I haven't tried anything from this brand yet but it looks interesting. I'm intrigued that it costs $32, that is almost as expensive as a MAC lipstick but not quite as pretty looking. Either way, the colour is pretty nice so I'll give it a go eventually.

Chapstick Hydration Lock RRP $4.99
I've never really been a fan of Chapstick products, but these days they're rolling out so many new and innovative products that it's hard to dismiss them. I am interested in the two-step formula and will give this a go overnight to test its hydration ability.

The Cosmetic Kitchen Body Scrub
The Cosmetic Kitchen Foot Mask
NAK Thermal Shield Protective Sealant

The Cosmetic Kitchen Body Scrub (RRP $29.95) and Foot Mask (RRP $24.95)
We have seen this brand pop up a few times in previous LHI boxes. The blushes that I've received in the past have been lovely and I do use them a fair bit. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of scrubs that come in a packet because I find them messy but my winter scales are probably begging me to try these anyway. The foot mask also sounds like a good idea for winter.

NAK Thermal Shield $25.95
I have a NAK Argan oil hair spray and I absolutely love it, so I'm sure this offering from NAK will be just as good. I've been using the same heat protectant (Tresemme) for years so it will be good to try something different and slightly more upmarket for a change!

Overall I think this is a very good box with products that I'll definitely use.

What did you think of the June box?

Birthday

So a couple of weeks ago I turned 23! And I thought maybe I should do a quick post about it. I had to work on the day, seeing as it was a Wednesday, but when I got to work, there was a surprise waiting for me in the lunch room....

How cute!

After work, a few friends dropped in to say hello and I scored some lovely gifts including some Dusk candles and wine. My parents gave me some diamond earrings

A gift from my parents

My lovely boyfriend rocked up with a big bouquet of flowers.

What other gifts did he give me? Keep reading....

He told me that I had to wait until Friday night for my present. From Wednesday to Friday felt like the longest time ever! Turns out that he booked us in for a fancy restaurant in town near the water. It was amazing, the food was fantastic and everything was perfect.

Now as for the present...

He presented me with a...pineapple? Yep.

But what was inside? It was full of lollies.

Is that all?

Nope. Right at the very bottom of the pineapple, I found this...

Yes. That's a diamond ring!

But don't get too excited, its not an engagement ring! I do love the ring and I've gotten so many compliments on it. I think I'm a very lucky girl and hopefully one day I'll get an engagement ring to wear with this one :)

Thanks for reading xx

Rave review: Hurraw lip balms

So I've recently been on bit of an iherb.com splurge and found some new brands that I've been loving. To be more specific, I've fallen in love with the Hurraw! lip balm range. Their lip balms are organic and vegan and also just pretty damn awesome. They have so many different flavours and I'm on a mission to collect them all and spread the word. Here are the ones I've stocked up on so far...

L-R
Moon Balm - blue chamomile vanilla
Green Tea
Coffee Bean
Grapefruit
Earl Grey

How awesome are these flavours? I've certainly never come across an earl grey scented lip balm before. The scents are quiet subtle but I really like them. Now, more about the balms. So I'm going to steal an excerpt off the Hurraw website because I think it explains them pretty well...

'Super smooth, not draggy, not sticky, not sweet, not too glossy, not too smelly, never grainy, long lasting'

Yep. They apply very smoothly; I'd say they are the smoothest balms I've tried. They're also not overly heavy or sticky and have a thinner consistency than other lip balms like Chapstick or the Nivea balms. Some say that this makes them disappear faster but I apply them overnight and I've still got a decent amount on my lips in the morning.

Another thing to note about these balms is that they're oval shaped, as you might be able to tell from the lids. I actually think this is really cool, but not everyone may agree with me.

Overall, I've really enjoyed these lip balms and seeing as they're only around the $4-5 mark on iherb, I'm planning on buying a few more!

Have you tried this brand of lip balm or would you be interested in giving them a go? If so, follow this link to have a look.

Foundation rotation

I can't explain why, but lately I've had a fascination for foundation. I want to try them all. But now I have something like 7 or 8 foundations, I only have one face, is this really necessary?! Anyways, I've been leaning towards a few lately so I'll give you a bit of a rundown...

L-R
Maybelline Super Stay Foundation
Rimmel 25 Hour  Lasting Finish
L'Oreal True Match
Rimmel Match Perfection

Maybelline Super Stay
So this one is the newest to my collection because apparently I could not resist the recent 50% off sale at Chemist Warehouse. I bought this 'blindly' - what I mean by that is that I didn't do any research on it or look at any reviews of it beforehand. But luckily, I'm liking it so far. Some have said that it's a cheaper version of Revlon Colorstay and I think for the most part I do agree. It applies very well and doesn't feel overly cakey. It probably doesn't have quite as much coverage as Colorstay though, but I'm okay with that. It still is medium-full coverage with good lasting power, although I get a bit shiny by the end of the day. I'd rate it an 8/10.

Rimmel Lasting Finish
Alright, where do I start? I really want to love this. I'm trying so hard. But you know what they say, you can't force love. I read so many great reviews (especially on Beauty Heaven) and I was like omg I need this foundation. I just don't get excited about it. It feels very thick and it takes me time to apply and blend it because of how thick it is. The coverage is medium-full, but its kind of...flat. I find it boring, if that even makes sense. It makes my face feel tacky for a while after applying. It's also not particularly buildable as I did notice caking at the end of the day on the areas I tried to cover more. Funnily enough, I actually think it looks better at the end of the day (when its not cakey) when its had some time to wear into my skin. So maybe if I wanted this to look good, I'd put it on and go for a run? Hmm. I'll use it up, but I doubt I'll repurchase. 5/10

L'Oreal True Match
This is my favourite foundation right now. I bought it because I know Lauren Curtis raves about it, and shes always got a flawless base. It dries to a semi-matte powder finish, but the thing I love most about it is how light weight it feels, how easily it applies and that it's buildable! I haven't worn this for photos yet so I'm not sure how the SPF holds up under flash photography, but other than that, I'd rate it as a 10.

Rimmel Match Perfection
I've had this for some time, but I find myself reaching for it on my days off when I want a fresh look without too much makeup. It's light coverage which gives a really natural glow. Initially when I got this foundation, I didn't like it but now its one of my favourites. The only downside to it is that it doesn't have the best wear time, so for that I rate it a 9/10.

Do you have any of these foundations and if so, what are your thoughts on them? I'd love to hear your feedback in the comments below.
