Rosehip oil (RHO) is one of those skincare treats that is raved about in the beauty world. While I was somewhat skeptical about placing oil on my skin, I decided to give it a go. I opted for Sukin because I have recently discovered them and am loving their purifying facial masque.
It has absolutely no nasty ingredients in it and is just simply, RHO. It doesn't contain a preservative which is why it comes in a darkened bottle - its sensitive to heat/light! It contains a glass dropper for dispensing the oil.
It looks a bit like olive oil, but feels very lightweight to use. It blends in easily and doesn't feel greasy or oily but like a light moisturiser. I use it after my night time shower (right before bedtime) as a serum and then use my night cream. I do this probably about 4-5 nights a week. I love how soft and smooth it makes my skin. It seems to have helped fade some dark marks and soothe redness which is awesome. Notice that I said I use it at night - while it isn't super oily, it does seem to wear through foundation so I save it for night time.
The only negative is that it does not smell that pleasant...it reminds me of fish oil capsules. For this reason, I don't like using it during the day because the smell lingers a bit and annoys me. However, the reason it doesn't smell fancy is because, as I said, no nasty chemicals involved! Meaning no perfume/fragrances. So I guess the negative is actually a positive!
As well as hydrating and soothing, it also makes me appear more radiant - this is always good look in the morning :)
Overall I think this is a great way to venture into the world of RHO. I am very glad I bought into the hype because the results are amazing.
Have you tried RHO?
I also love rosehip oil! I have stopped using it a few times but I always come back. I also found that it wore through my foundation!! For the first half of last year I couldn't figure out why my foundation would wear away weirdly and patchy, it was the rosehip oil! So now I also only use it at night. I also like to use a People for Plants face oil but RHO is cheaper and you get more product. Great review Sarah xx
ReplyDeleteI guess oil + foundation don't mix! Glad that you enjoy the RHO too :) I've seen that People for Plants oil, was contemplating trying out that one!
DeleteI love RHO, and I've heard that about the smell of the Sukin RHO from two other people! For that reason, I've never tried their RHO, but don't let it put you off! Keep trying different brands - there are some absolutely lovely ones out there!
ReplyDeleteI've also read that others don't enjoy the smell :P I think I want to try Trilogy next!
DeleteI've had a sample of some, I think one was sukin and the other was Kosmea, I didn't like the smell of either, but I didn't find it too strong either. Certainly something I might consider when my current serum runs out as I got it as a sample and it's quite expensive to buy full price.

I've heard good reviews about the Kosmea one too :) I think the Sukin one is a bit cheaper! x
DeleteI have this and really like it! It makes a big difference when your skin is in need of a bit more hydration x x

Definitely! It will be perfect for winter :)
DeleteI use this religiously and my skin loves it!... but like you said, not a big fan of the scent at all. I used Akin before I got into Sukin. When I first opened my bottle and had a whiff, I thought the product was off!
ReplyDeleteYeah it's certainly something that takes some getting used to! But I think I prefer the weird smell over having perfumes in it.
